Sexual Anorexia

Sexual Anorexia is an avoidance of sexuality. In the extreme, this deprivation is due to a horror and revulsion of sex.

Often Sex addicts are anorexic as they experience a 'binge & purge' behaviour. Also the spouse and eventually the children of a sex addict can become anorexic as the 'energies' in the family seek a natural balance.

The consequences of sexual anorexia can be severe and include poor health, depression, suicidal behaviour and isolation.

Anorexia, the avoidances and deprivations are considered part of the family of the addictions. As a result the help of others is essential in the healing process.

The healing journey moves towards the goal of a healthy sexuality. The journey includes the understanding of anorexic behaviour, and developing the skills for relationships in light of difficulties people have experienced.
